Silvia Sánchez's pieces evoke fragments of the Tucumán jungle, stemming from both a past experience and a daily habit: long walks immersed in the dense Yungas forest. It is there that the artist's mind fills with images that are then transferred onto Misiones paper. The earth-colored margins offer respite from the dense, geometric, flowerless jungle, which marks the passing of the seasons or the transition from night to day. It could also be a dreamlike space, where rigidity is disrupted by the movement of vibrant plants that act as a form of defense. Initially, Sánchez sketches plant skeletons of dark trunks, which serve as a guide for the rest of her thick brushstrokes and contrasting overflows of acrylic paint. Then, with water-soluble pencils, she paints details such as cedar and laurel leaves that emerge in an energetic and intuitive flow. Ochres, violets, golds, and oranges are juxtaposed, leaving no room for emptiness or any discernible path. They mingle and follow one another, unfolding simultaneously and surrounding each other.
